The NSIF Framework for Action comprises four dimensions that are aligned to national policy objectives,human rights instruments and SDGs relating to its ten priority areas of intervention:

The Foundation supports programmes and projects aimed at strengthening capacities, resilience and livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable groups. The main programme areas include:
- Livelihood support and social accompaniment
- Skills development, employability and economic empowerment
- Supported accommodation provided to the homeless
- Social rehabilitation of the homeless and ex-detainees
Educational support and training
Educational support and training
The NSIF seeks to enhance access to educational and training programmes for vulnerable children and youth. The Foundation provides funding support for:
- Creche services and pre-primary schooling
- Academic support
- Life skills, literacy, numeracy and IT
- Technical/vocational training
- Non-formal education
- Special needs education and therapies
- Music and creativity workshops
- Psychological support and counselling
- School feeding programmes

Supporting People with Disablities
Supporting People with Disablities
Funding support to programmes and projects in the area of disabilities aims at improving the wellbeing and socioeconomic participation of persons with disabilities. The Foundation supports:
- Day care and residential centres
- Rehabilitation and support services including medical and paramedical services
- Assistive devices
- Training and employment of persons with disabilities
- Sport and recreational activities
Dealing with Health Problems
Dealing with Health Problems
The Foundation supports health programmes addressing:
- Non-communicable diseases notably diabetes, cancer and other severe diseases including haemophilia, thalassemia and muscular dystrophy
- Family planning, sexual and reproductive health

- Substance abuse and HIV/AIDS

Leisure and Sports
The Foundation seeks to expand access and participation to leisure and sports activities by vulnerablechildren, youths and adults, including the elderly, as a means of improving physical, mental, emotionaland social wellbeing.
Funded activities include:
- For children and youth – Athletics, Badminton, Football,
For Brazilian Jiujitsu, Kabbaddi - For the elderly – Music, dance and singing, Yoga, Tai Chi, Home Economics

Family Protection including Gender-based Violence
Family Protection including Gender-based Violence
The NSIF provides funding support to NGO-run Residential Care Institutions (RCIs) accommodating:
- Children victims of neglect, violence and abuse in need of alternative care
- Elderly abandoned by relatives and placed in charitable institutions
- Women victims of gender-based violence, often accompanied by their children
Residential facilities cater for:
- The basic needs, care and protection of beneficiaries
- Their health and wellbeing

Social Housing
The Foundation promotes safe, healthy and clean environments for vulnerable families to live in. It funds programmes and projects for:
- Providing access to basic hygiene and sanitation
- Improving basic living conditions
- Refurbishment of houses made of asbestos materials.

Environment and sustainable development
The Foundation supports programmes and projects aimed at environmental sustainability. The types of interventions funded include:
- Protection and conservation of biodiversity and wildlife
- Environmental education and sensitisation
- Waste segregation and recycling, in particular plastics
- Promotion of green jobs
- Enhancing resilience of vulnerable communities to climate change impacts and other disasters
